Notary Services

Duties

A notary is any official appointed by Wisconsin's Secretary of State, Doug LaFollette, to serve the public as a first-hand, non-biased, witness to formally document the signing of various agreements, both legal and non-legal. These official acts are called notarizations. It is the duty of the village's notary to screen the signers of sensitive instruments to ensure their true identity and their willingness to sign under their own free will.

Being impartial is essential to being a qualified state-issued notary because at its core, it is a foundation of our public's trust. A notary shall never refuse to serve a person due to their nationality, race, religion, politics, or sexual orientation.

Cost

The Village of Richfield offers free notary services administered through the office of the clerk.
